The Green Initiatives Committee is a joint SGA-General Student Body committee which is responsible for the implementation of initiatives that will make Wheaton College greener and more environmentally aware. The Committee is chaired by the Student Government Association President with the SGA Treasurer as the Vice Chair. Additional members of the committee include 3 Senators and 6 members of the Student Body, appointed through an application process. Past Accomplishments:
- Executed Greener Wheaton Competition 2009, 2010
- Established a “Did You Know” Awareness Campaign
- Assisted in the funding of the Wheaton Woods Bridge
- Actively participated in a Sustainability @ Wheaton Forum during “Focus the Nation”
- Distributed Free CFL Lightblubs to every student on campus
- Assisted in the funding and planning of the Murphy Memorial Apple Orchard
- Student-Run Greenhouse (in collaboration with Dining Services)
- AAHSE Membership will be seriously considered for FY 2011

- Opt-Out for Excessive Notifications via Mailboxes
- Development of Implementation Plan for Eventual Signature for American Universities and College Presidents Climate Commitment
