OH HAI Meadows!

Here’s what’s been happening in senate lately:

Senate has recently appointed Tess Cunard to the position of “Dean of Senate.” This position will work to facilitate communication and cohesion within senate between committees and senior and junior senators, allowing new senators to more quickly “learn the ropes” and help various faculties of senate work together more collaboratively.

Senate is accepting applications for two senate seat vacancies, applications are due on Sunday. Contact Riley Waggaman (riley.waggaman@gmail.com) for more information.

Spring Weekend: Programming Council has booked the band My Dear Disco as the smaller beginning act for the Spring Weekend concert and are currently quite close to deciding on the main act.

This Friday (12/4) will be the Annual Snowball Dance, hosted by KLMC Quad in Balfour! Don’t miss the last big event of the semester!

Next Tuesday (12/8) will be senate’s last meeting of the Fall semester. During this meeting we will discuss the progress that has been made on our deliverables and other goals for the year. All are encouraged to attend, as this will be a wonderful opportunity to hear the nitty-gritties of what your senators have been working on this semester and will be working on for the rest of the year.

Have a great week and I hope to see some of you at the senate meeting next week!

Senate Update!

Hello Meadows!

In Senate this week:
- Dean of Students Lee Williams came to answer questions regarding off-campus parties. There was a BRILLIANT turn out for this meeting, so THANK YOU to all those who came! Dean Williams stated during the discussion that Wheaton had not given Norton Police a list of student’s off-campus addresses; neither does Wheaton pay NPD to break up off-campus parties.
- The administration only touched briefly upon the on-campus alcohol policy however there will be future discussion opportunities on this matter.

Upcoming events:
- RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE – If you did not sign-up but are still interested in donating blood on Thursday, November 19th, there will be a limited number of walk-in appointments available from 12 – 5 PM in the SGA Office.
- Nov. 13th there is a Faculty vs. Student basketball game in Haas at 7pm including guest performances from Trybe and the GC’S!
- November 21st is Vegas night! Watch this space for more info!
As always, check the Wheaton Calendar for all upcoming events:

Don’t forget to post any suggestions in the SGA suggestion envelopes posted around Meadows!

Have a great week!

Hey Meadows!
There are several things to keep you all posted on, so here we go:
- There is an open senator spot for anyone that is interested in the position! If you are, check out the SGA website (www.sga.wheatoncollege.edu) and make sure to send in your application by Sunday at noon. This is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to contribute to the Wheaton College community and make a meaningful impact.
- Make sure to go to the Facebook event (http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=154936668757&ref=ts) and submit ideas for an artist for spring weekend. The artist must be within the 10-15,000 dollar range, so no Kanye or Jay-Z enthusiasts.
- Tonight (Wednesday, November 4th) there is a Meet and Greet in the Loft. This is an opportunity for everyone to come and meet your senators. FREE FOOD!
- The Greener Wheaton Competition is on, so do your best to be environmentally friendly. There are really easy ways to do this. The most obvious of which is to turn off lights if you’re not using them. That means in your room, in the bathroom etc.
- If you have not yet heard, the Senate, as well as the administration, have passed a proposal to have gender neutral dorms and co-ed rooms. YAY! It was several years in the making, but it was finally passed and signed into action.
- Next Tuesday (November 10th), Dean Williams will be coming to speak to the senate about, among other topics, the alcohol policy and off-campus housing. Please do come and participate in the workings of senate and engaging the community in dialogue.
That’s all for now. REMEMBER, there is a envelope in Meadows Center for any questions, comments or complaints. You can always shoot any one of us an email, phone call or facebook message. Or even knock on our doors!
Your senators,
Sasha, Tyler and Adin
